Although less well known than the much larger Blue Mountains, the 15000 ha Ku-ring-gai-Chase National Park is one of Sydney-siders’ favourite national parks.
A trip to the Ku-ring-gai (the park takes its name from the Guringai Aborigines, who are considered the traditional owners of the area) promises a day of breathtaking views, exciting hikes through rocky gorges that cut through rainforest and eucalyptus trees, up-close encounters with Australian wildlife and, perhaps most enjoyable of all, the unique opportunity to gain an insight into the fascinating history and way of life of the Aboriginal people through important heritage sites such as petroglyphs, rock engravings and “axe-grinding sites”.

But we also discover chic country houses, picturesque bays, nice cafés and parks.
